Did you know our Daniel Boone counselors meet individually with every student to build their Graduation & Beyond Plan? 🎓💬 They help create 6-year plans, guide course choices, support college & career planning, and provide essential mental health support. We apologize for the delayed post (snow & illnesses!), but we couldn’t miss celebrating them during National School Counselor Week. 🙌
Mark your calendars: Dual Enrollment Night — March 3rd (for freshmen, sophomores & juniors). Their daily work changes lives—often unseen, always felt. We’re so grateful for their care and commitment. ❤️

Washington County Schools is committed to providing continuous, meaningful learning for all students—even when circumstances require us to close school buildings. In the event schools must be closed due to inclement weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen situations, Washington County Schools may implement a Remote Learning Day for all students across the district.
If the need arises, Remote Learning Days will be communicated through the same public announcement methods used for other school closure days, including district communication channels and local media outlets.
Our Washington County Schools Framework for Remote Learning aligns with Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 49-6-3004(i) and T.C.A. § 49-2-139) and Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) expectations. This framework outlines procedures for technology readiness, instructional delivery, staff coordination, and family support. While it provides consistency across the district, it also allows flexibility to meet the unique needs of each school and classroom.
Remote Learning Days are considered instructional days when students are provided meaningful learning opportunities and participation is appropriately documented. Instruction during remote learning days will include English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, intervention, life-skills learning, and physical activity.
During a remote learning day, instruction will be structured to provide meaningful learning experiences while maintaining age-appropriate expectations. Students in grades 1–12 will participate in approximately 6.5 hours of instruction per day.
This time may include a combination of live teacher-led lessons, teacher office hours for support, independent practice, and scheduled breaks throughout the day. PreK and kindergarten students will participate in approximately 4 hours of instruction per day, which will include a balance of teacher-led activities, learning packets, and hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences designed to support early learning.
Please note that you will receive additional communication directly from your child’s school with specific details related to classroom expectations, schedules, and instructional activities. Attendance procedures and expectations for remote learning days will be communicated directly by each individual school. Families should refer to their school’s communication for specific guidance on how attendance will be recorded and what is required to ensure students are marked present.
We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure learning continues for every student, even when school buildings are closed.

Kindness goes a long way, and for one student at DBHS, it’s taking him all the way to the Super Bowl.
Nicholas Keplinger was the winner of Kindland’s Kickoff for Kindness video competition and will spend his weekend in San Francisco. Keplinger’s nationwide school kindness video will be viewed by 543,600 students across 1,400 schools ahead of the game.
Keplinger’s video highlights the importance of being kind to others, and how the actions of just one person “can change EVERYTHING!” He believes that “kindness shouldn’t be an option, it’s a NECESSITY for all of us.”

🎉 Huge congratulations to Jaden Clark on earning his Eagle Scout! After 11 years with Troop 135 and Troop 240, Jaden completed his Eagle project by installing interior double doors at a fire exit for Glory Production in Kingsport. He says scouting has been a long, tough journey — but worth every step. 👏
