Parent Awareness: Social Media Trends
Social media continues to grow in popularity, and with more time spent online, our teenagers are the most impacted. Platforms like TikTok are known for short videos and viral “challenges.” While some challenges may seem entertaining, others pose serious risks to young people.
🚨 Current TikTok Challenges to Be Aware Of:
Benadryl Challenge – taking several pills to experience a high (risk: overdose)
Outlet Challenge – placing a charger partially in an outlet to create sparks (risk: electrocution or fire)
Dusting Challenge – inhaling substances like cleaning spray for a high (risk: overdose)
👨👩👧👦 What Parents Can Do:
Monitor and limit access to social media and harmful items.
Talk with your child about the dangers of these challenges.
Model healthy decision-making skills.
Reach out to local supports if you have questions or concerns.
Together, we can help keep our students safe and encourage healthy, positive use of technology.

The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) public school funding formula marks a significant change in how Tennessee invests in public education. The TISA funding formula updates the way Tennessee funds public education for the first time in over 30 years to empower each student to read proficiently by third grade, prepare each high school graduate for postsecondary success, and provide resources needed for all students to ensure they succeed.
We invite you to learn more about it by reading this document:
