Washington County Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Mrs. Krissi McInturff as the new principal at Sulphur Springs Elementary School. Mrs. McInturff has eighteen years of experience in public education, including her time as a classroom teacher, RTI Coordinator, and teacher leader in both Washington County and Johnson City Schools. She was honored as Washington County’s Teacher of the Year in 2015 and has consistently earned Level 5 effectiveness scores throughout her teaching career. She is committed to academic excellence, innovation, and building strong school communities.

In addition to her classroom leadership, Mrs. McInturff was appointed by Governor Bill Lee in 2023 to serve on the Tennessee State Board of Education, where she represents District 1 and helps shape education policy for schools across the state.

Mrs. McInturff holds a B.S. in Early Childhood Development and a Master of Education in Elementary Education from Milligan University. She also completed her Instructional Leadership License through Bethel University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in History from Liberty University.

Mrs. McInturff resides in Jonesborough with her husband Rob and their two sons, Mac and Ted. They attend and teach Sunday school at Hope Church in Gray.

Mrs. McInturff says that “Having served in Washington County for over fifteen years, I understand the heart of this community. My goal as principal is to build on that foundation by cultivating a culture where high expectations, meaningful learning, and joy are part of our daily rhythm. I’m honored to lead Sulphur Springs into its next chapter.”
