As we bid our AMAZING SRO Officer Mike farewell, we hope he finds his next chapter as rich and fulfilling! He's been such an important part of our Cardinal Family. Putting our safety first, Officer Mike has inspired so many of our students. We'll miss him very much, and wish him well in his new location. Our new SRO Officer Amanda has some big shoes to fill, but she's up for the task! Once a Cardinal, ALWAYS a Cardinal ♥️

Washington County Schools is committed to providing continuous, meaningful learning for all students—even when circumstances require us to close school buildings. In the event schools must be closed due to inclement weather, emergencies, or other unforeseen situations, Washington County Schools may implement a Remote Learning Day for all students across the district.

If the need arises, Remote Learning Days will be communicated through the same public announcement methods used for other school closure days, including district communication channels and local media outlets.

Our Washington County Schools Framework for Remote Learning aligns with Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 49-6-3004(i) and T.C.A. § 49-2-139) and Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) expectations. This framework outlines procedures for technology readiness, instructional delivery, staff coordination, and family support. While it provides consistency across the district, it also allows flexibility to meet the unique needs of each school and classroom.

Remote Learning Days are considered instructional days when students are provided meaningful learning opportunities and participation is appropriately documented. Instruction during remote learning days will include English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, intervention, life-skills learning, and physical activity.

During a remote learning day, instruction will be structured to provide meaningful learning experiences while maintaining age-appropriate expectations. Students in grades 1–12 will participate in approximately 6.5 hours of instruction per day.

This time may include a combination of live teacher-led lessons, teacher office hours for support, independent practice, and scheduled breaks throughout the day. PreK and kindergarten students will participate in approximately 4 hours of instruction per day, which will include a balance of teacher-led activities, learning packets, and hands-on, developmentally appropriate experiences designed to support early learning.

Please note that you will receive additional communication directly from your child’s school with specific details related to classroom expectations, schedules, and instructional activities. Attendance procedures and expectations for remote learning days will be communicated directly by each individual school. Families should refer to their school’s communication for specific guidance on how attendance will be recorded and what is required to ensure students are marked present.

We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure learning continues for every student, even when school buildings are closed.
