Each year, the Barter Playwright Competition receives over 250 original plays from high schools in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The top six plays are selected for performance by the Barter Theatre actors during the Young Playwright Festival. This year, Emily Mullins' play, "Letters," was among the top six and was performed by the Barter Players on Monday, October 27th. Emily, a student at Daniel Boone High School, also achieved second place in the 2024 Young Playwright Competition with her play "Villains Anonymous."
