Mary Foister, Library Media Specialist

Hello! My name is Mary Foister and I am excited about being in my eighth year as Media Specialist at Jonesborough Elementary! I have worked in the Washington County School District for 15 years in the roles of Special Education Instructional Assistant, Library Instructional Assistant, and Library Media Specialist. I graduated from Tusculum University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, grades K-6. I also hold endorsements in teaching middle grades 4-8, English grades 7-12, and Computer Science. In 2017, I earned a Master of Education in Educational Media and Technology with a School Library Media Concentration from ETSU.

I grew up in Tennessee and is where I met my husband, Wayne. We have been married for 28 years and have two children, Dustin and Jessica. We have two dogs, Bella and Maverick, and a cat, Loki. We enjoy camping, being at the lake, at the beach, MTSU hockey, and UT FOOTBALL.

I look forward to another great year of learning and exploring at Jonesborough!

About Dewey

Melvin Dewey , aka Father of Modern Librarianship, was an American librarian who invented the Dewey Decimal Classification system for library cataloging. The DDC is broken down into 10 broad areas and then broken down into smaller and smaller topics. JES students learn how to use this system to locate books in our library.

For more information on the DDC, visit one of these sites:
