My name is Lindsey Tipton. This will be my fourteenth year teaching. I spent six years teaching first grade at Jonesborough Elementary. I spent seven years teaching second grade at Gray Elementary.  This is my first year teaching 3rd grade. I love teaching ELA, and I'm excited for a change! I look forward to a wonderful school year ahead! Thank you for sharing your children with me.

I grew up in Sulphur Springs, but I currently live in Bowmantown. I graduated from Tusculum College with my Bachelor's of Education (K-6th grade) in December 2010. I attended Gray School K-8th grade and graduated high school at Daniel Boone in 2006.

I have worked with children for the past 16 years:

  • Sulphur Springs School Instructional Assistant

  • Boys and Girls Club of Greater Kingsport

  • Doe River Gorge Camp Counselor

  • SACC program

I married my husband, Cole Tipton, in 2015. We have a daughter, Pearl, who attends Gray. My parents are Ed and Mary Etta Stafford. I have two older brothers, Trevor Stafford and Brandon Walker. I love spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy spending time with our pets. We have two Great Pyrenees dogs named Waylon & Margo, and they have pet goats that keep them busy. ;) We also have a pony named Tucker and another dog named Mia. I love animals and coffee!

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe in a learning environment in which students feel comfortable, where expectations and rules are consistent and clear. It is important to me that students feel safe and comfortable enough to ask questions and be themselves. I also believe that all children can and will learn. Children learn through many different learning styles, and it is very important to me that I teach using many different methods to reach all children. I let children know that I want them to do their PERSONAL BEST! Celebrating success (big or small) along the way, as a community of learners, is something that is very important in our room. Not only do students learn as individuals, but students also learn and work together, making the most out of their day. We are a team! Teams work together, and together, everyone achieves more success.
