Library Media Center

Mission Statement

The mission of the Fall Branch School Library Media Center is to be an integral part of the school community by supporting the curriculum needs of students and teachers, guiding them to use information effectively, creatively, and responsibly.

Goals & Objectives: 

  • To expose students to a large variety of literature with the goal of instilling a lifelong love of reading

  • To encourage collaboration between the media specialist and classroom teachers to fully integrate information literacy and the school curriculum

  • To provide unlimited accessibility to the media center for the entire school community throughout the school day

  • To lead students to use information effectively, creatively, and responsibly

  • To facilitate the integration of technology within the media center and classroom setting

  • To provide a variety of resources to meet the needs, interests, learning styles, and culture of all stakeholders

  • To assist teachers and staff with the implementation of the Tennessee state standards and curriculum 

Sora

Sora is a free resource for our students in Washington County- it is a digital reading app that all students have access to with their school email. 

Not only are there reads for K-5th grade, but our older students too! The app can be downloaded at home on a tablet or phone, and can also be viewed online. Click picture below for a link to the site.

Read! Read!

Reading takes practice! Just like learning a new sport or learning how to play a musical instrument, YOU must practice your reading skills. Reading at least 20 minutes a day helps improve fluency and comprehension.

  • ABCYA! ABCya! offers online educational games for students in grades Prek-6.

  • EPIC! EPIC is a digital reading platform for elementary students which offers ebooks and audiobooks. Our library class code is: twp1645

  • Teach Your Monster to Read Teach Your Monster To Read is a series of games designed to help students practice the first stages of reading including phonics. 

  • Storyline Online Storyline Online is a free, video collection of celebrities reading their favorite read alouds. 

  • PBS kids engages students through educational games and videos.
