Mr. Charles Hale
My name is Charles Hale and I have been teaching Marketing and Management courses at David Crockett High School since 2004. I graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I also completed a minor in Geology. After several years in the publishing and advertising industry, I chose to enter education and found my calling. I obtained my certifications to teach Marketing, Business Education, and Business Technology from Union University in Jackson, TN. I have since completed a Master's degree at ETSU in Classroom Technology in 2010 and my Ed. S. degree from Union College in 2019.
I have a true passion for my subject and my program as it can be applied to any career choice that students are interested in exploring. Marketing exists and is an integral part of every industry sector, including manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, advertising, sales, and education, just to name a few.
The Marketing program at DCHS offers Marketing and Management Principles and Entrepreneurship, or small business ownership. Students will learn the functions of marketing and then apply them in the entrepreneurship class as they learn how to set up and operate their own business. The program also offers the opportunity for students to co-op out of school up to 2 periods early. This aspect, called Work Based Learning, allows students to work at a job in the community applying classroom concepts while earning school credit.

Tennessee DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
DECA is the student organization/club that is an extension of the Marketing classroom and curriculum. It allows students a platform to compete with other DECA chapters across the state and country showcasing what they learn in the Marketing Education program.
With nearly a 70-year history, DECA has impacted the lives of more than ten million students, educators, school administrators and business professionals since it was founded in 1946. Their strong connection with our organization has resonated into a brand that people identify as a remarkable experience in the preparation of emerging leaders and entrepreneurs. DECA’s programs and activities have constantly evolved as we use the latest technology and apply cutting edge educational research.
