Mr. Curtis Dishner, Jr.

My name is Curtis Dishner, and I teach Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry, Precalculus, AP Calculus AB, and AP Calculus BC.  I have taught at Daniel Boone High School for 15 years. Prior to joining the great faculty at Boone, I taught at Northeast State Community College for 2 years. With Blazer Nation as my alma mater as well, I know what a great school system we have, and I have great confidence you will have a plethora of opportunities at Boone that will impact your life as it has my own.

I understand that some students enter my classroom with a not-so-favorable view of math, while others have enjoyed the content but have never been challenged before. My goal for every student that enters my class is that they become better problem solvers and productive strugglers. The courses I offer will be challenging at times, but learning to handle rough conditions productively can enhance your performance in any area. In The Art of Learning by Josh Waitzkin, he states that "in every discipline, the ability to be clearheaded, present, cool under fire is much of what separates the best from the mediocre." Let's do our best to be positive and react appropriately to the challenges that await us. My desire for you is to experience the necessary growth that will take you to a whole new level in your education and be better prepared for college.

I am looking forward to a great year with an awesome group of students!  Again, I welcome all of you. I know we are going to have an amazing time together!

  • This is a way for students to turn multiple photos of written work into one PDF file.
How to Convert Photos to PDF on iPhone and iPad
One option is to download a free PDF scanning/converting app. One suggestion used by some of our GTAs is CamScanner. There is a free feature that allows users to turn multiple pictures taken within the app into a single PDF file. CamScanner has step-by-step instructions when you download the app.
Another option requiring no additional download is to use the Notes app with the iOS.
    Instructions for Notes App:
Step 1: Place your work on a flat and well-lit surface.
Step 2: Launch the Notes app.
Step 3: Start a new note (bottom right hand corner).
Step 4: Tap the camera icon or plus sign (depending on your iOS version) and choose ScanDocuments.
Step 5: Take all of your pictures in the same note.
    Step 6: Save note.
Step 7: Tap Share and email a copy to yourself for upload to Canvas or upload to a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive.
