Please see class dojo website to stay up to date on daily assignments. Please see the link section for online resources that can be used during this time.

Terrific Tuesday March 24th. This week you will need to access the newsela website and create an account. I will list the links below. Please click on your students homeroom teacher’s link and follow the steps from there. This is the first time I have used the website like this. If you have any questions on getting logged on or anything please let me know.

News ELA- Newsela login: Students will be given different articles to read, analyze, and take different assessments on. These assignments will be posted each day for the daily assignments.  Select your student’s homeroom. Click on the link. The link will take you to the NewsELA website. You will need to fill in the required fields. Once you have completed the login information you will be able to complete the assignment that has been assigned to your student’s homeroom class. See the assignment for the day for further instruction on the assignments. **We will use this website the rest of this week. Please remember your login information. I don’t think I will be able to get that for you. **

ELA:

Students have been assigned  different articles on NewsELA please read the ‘Harriet Tubman spy and soldier’. Students need to read and analyze the article. Once you have read the article you will take the quiz.

Writing: If students didn’t finish their rough draft from last week this needs to be finished today. Write a letter to Harriet thanking her for her contributions to the abolitionist movement. Be sure to include text evidence in your letter and specific accomplishments. This will need to be turned in when we return from school.

**Students will be writing an informational essay about how the women they read about this week made an impact on history. Keep this in mind when students are reading their articles. I will send out the prompt Thursday/Friday.**

Mrs. Simerly and family

Welcome to our class! My name is Mrs. Simerly, and thank you for taking the time to visit my classroom website. Some of my favorite things are my daughter (Kennedy Grace), my dog (Zeus), my husband (Dylan), and teaching! I like to tell funny stories about my life to my students to help build relationships with them, so be prepared to hear them too! I am an alumni of East Tennessee State University, where I recieved my bachelors in K-6th Elementary, and then recieived my Masters in 4th-8th Education. Teaching is my passion, and I can't wait to see what your child will accomplish in my class!

Take a look at what we are doing in the classroom!
