Ms. Laura Cross
I am a local resident and graduate of East Tennessee State University. My degree is in Special Education. I am certified to teach students in grades K-12, both modified and comprehensive. During my studies, I was nominated and chosen as 'Student Teacher of the Year' out of the Clemmer College of Education. I also served on the Student Council for Exceptional Children, an international advocacy organization for students with disabilities, where I was a student representative to the Representative Assembly. In this role, I conveyed the university student perspective to the larger governing body of the Council for Exceptional Children.
Initially, I taught Special Education for 6 years in Carter County Schools. My first 3 years were teaching middle school and I finished my last 3 years at Hunter Elementary School working with students in grades K-4. Currently, I am one of the Special Education Interventionists for grades 5-8 at Boones Creek Middle School. I am happy to have been able to join the Boones Creek Middle School faculty where I can teach one of my favorite age groups again, middle school!
