EFFECTIVE MARCH 24:  We will comply with Governor Bill Lee's recommendtion to continue the school closuers through April 24, 2020.

This morning (03/16/2020), Governor Bill Lee issued a statement urging all Tennessee school districts to close as soon as practically possible. In response to this statement, Washington County Schools will be closed from March 18 thru March 27. Spring Break will still be March 30 thru April 3. The ACT test scheduled for Tuesday March 17th at David Crockett and Daniel Boone High Schools will still be held to ensure that college applications can be completed on time. All athletics (games and practices) will be postponed until further notice. Washington County Schools will continue to monitor the situation and update the public when new information is available, and decisions are made. Thank you for your concern and dedication to the students of Washington County.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. William R. Flanary
    Director of Schools

REVISED MEAL DISTRIBUTION PLAN

  • Washington County Schools has revised our school system feeding plan during our closure to better assist our families. We will be decreasing the number of days parents need to come to pick up food while increasing the number of meals being provided to each child per visit. We will be handing out 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches at each location per child on the days the sites are open. Pick-up will be from 9:00 am till 12:00 pm.

Please remember that ANY child ages 0-17 years of age may get a free meal, regardless if they are a Washington County Schools student or not. Additionally, federal guidelines dictate that the minor child must be present to receive the free breakfast and lunch. Each school site will feature drive-up, “curb-side service” where cars will drive to the pick-up area and have the meals handed to the child instead of the children coming into the school.

The four sites serving breakfast and lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays are as follows:

1: David Crockett High School, 684 Old State Rte 34, Jonesborough, TN 37659
2: Daniel Boone High School, 1440 Suncrest Dr, Gray, TN 37615
3: Jonesborough Middle School, 308 Forest Dr, Jonesborough, TN 37659
4: Boones Creek Elementary School, 132 Highland Church Rd, Johnson City, TN 37615

The four sites serving breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays are as follows:

1: West View Elementary School, 2847 Old State Route 34, Limestone, TN 37681
2: South Central Elementary School, 2955 TN-107, Chuckey, TN 37641
3: Fall Branch Elementary School, 1061 TN-93, Fall Branch, TN 37656
4: Sulphur Springs Elementary School, 1518 Gray Station Sulphur Springs Rd, Jonesborough, TN 37659

If you have any transportation related issues or need meals delivered to you, please call Washington County Schools at 423-753-1100 and ask for Kim Rivers.

DAILY LUNCH INFORMATION

  • The closure of Washington County Schools from Wednesday March 18 thru Friday March 27, 2020 affects our students and their families in many ways. To help alleviate any anxiety families may have regarding feeding their children, beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Washington County Schools' Nutrition Department will have lunch available at four county schools each weekday for any child under the age of 18.

Federal guidelines dictate that the minor child must be present to receive the free lunch. Each school site will feature drive-up, "curb-side service" where cars will drive to the pick-up area and have the lunch handed to the child instead of the children coming into the school. Lunch will be served every weekday from 10 am to 12 pm. The days and sites to pick up the free lunches are subject to change.

    THEY HAVE CHANGED...SEE REVISIONS ABOVE.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call Washington County Schools' Nutrition Department at 423-753-1100.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. William R. Flanary
    Director of Schools
