    FAQ....in no particular order:

  • What is the student to teacher ratio?

    Posted by:
This past school year, each kindergarten class had 17-20 students per classroom. We have a wonderful instructional assistant,Donna Saylor, who helps in each kindergarten class throughout the day in addition to your child's classroom teacher!

  • Are parents allowed to volunteer in the classroom? How quickly can parents volunteer?

    Posted by:
Parents are always welcome to volunteer and help out in the kindergarten classrooms! (Check out the We LOVE Volunteers! Link to the left!)
If you would like to help out at school, just let your teacher know!

Sometimes, teachers prefer to be in school a few weeks and let the students settle in before parent volunteers start. This also has a lot to do with how your child is adapting into kindergarten. Some children are ready to handle their parents in the classroom sooner than others.

*There are always at home projects that need to be done for parents who would like to help their child's class but are unable to come during the school day.

  • Do Kindergarteners take naps?

    Posted by:
We love naptime! :) Some children desperately need naptime to sleep because learning is hard work! Others do not sleep, but take the time to rest because learning is hard work! We make our naptime shorter as we go throughout the year and it is phased out by the end of the school year. Small nap mats or beach towels are great!

  • Can I walk my child to class every morning?

    Posted by:
Parents or older siblings are welcome to walk their kindergartener to class for the phase in days. Beginning with our first full day together, kindergarteners walk themselves to class. There are instructional assistants outside to help students get out of the cars in and into the building as well as throughout the hallways. Students are walked from the bus to the school as well. We promise your child will be monitored as they demonstrate their independence walking to class! :)

  • Does kindergarten have recess?

    Posted by:
Yes, we have recess everyday as long as it isn't raining or too cold. Tennis shoes are optimal for the playground setting. Flip flops tend to fall off and other sandals end up full of mulch. :)

  • Will my child have snack time?

    Posted by:
Each Kindergarten class has snack time everyday. You will be asked at the beginning of the year if you would like to help provide snack for your child's class. Each teacher has a snack calendar for the month. Some teachers allow students to rotate snack by each day and some teachers have students rotate snack by week. We appreciate those who help send healthy snacks for our class!
