I am excited to be back in the mountains of East Tennessee, after living in the Richmond, VA area for years due to my husband's military service. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from UT in Business Administration, and a Master of Arts from ETSU in School Counseling. I come from a long line of educators, and have worked in schools in Kingsport, TN and Chesterfield County, VA for 20 years as a School Counselor and Communities in Schools Site Coordinator. I am a passionate advocate for all children, and believe that by partnering with families, schools, and communities, we will build the success of our students. My background includes working for many years in Title 1 schools, which helps me to empathize with many of the challenges which our families face. My training focus for the past 7 years has been on Trauma-Informed Care, and this training has helped in understanding the effects that ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) has on our students. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, hiking, scuba diving, being out in nature, and attending Vols games. We have 3 grown children and one granddaughter, and are happy cat owners.

I grew up in the area around Elizabethton, Tennessee and have always had the privilege to call East Tennessee my home. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and my Master of Education in School Counseling from East Tennessee State University. My husband, Otis and I currently reside in Blountville,Tennessee with our spoiled furbaby, Dixie Lou.
I love MEXICAN food! My favorite color is RED. When there is time, I love a good book! Some of my favorite authors are Sandra Brown and James Patterson. Give me control of the remote and I'm watching HGTV! When not in school, I enjoy boating, traveling, cheering on my VOLS, spending time with family and friends and long walks.
As your school counselor, I am dedicated to ensuring that your child has every opportunity to succeed in a safe, nurturing environment. Our goal is that your child will be enriched intellectually, emotionally, and socially so that they will become productive citizens and life-long learners.
