***Note: Students will request dual enrollment with their counselor when choosing classes for the upcoming school year, but MUST complete the application requirements for the college in order to become enrolled. Requirements vary with each institution, so check their website carefully. ***
Daniel Boone's JumpStart & Dual Enrollment Classes
The JumpStart classes on Daniel Boone's campus allow our students the opportunity to get a "JUMPSTART" in college, while fulfilling high school credits at the same time. A JumpStart class offers 6 hours of college credit and 2 high school credits at the same time.
JumpStart Classes- These classes are offered on our campus for juniors and seniors.
Classes offered for SENIORS are:
- English Comp I & II- first semester
- Prob. & Stats/Speech - second semester
- Psychology/Art History - first semester
- US History/Sociology - second semester
Classes offered for JUNIORS are:
- Psychology/Art History - first semester
- US History/Sociology - second semester
- Prob. & Stats/Speeck- second semester
Any student interested in JumpStart classes at Daniel Boone High School must have an ACT subscore of a 19 in English and Reading, and a 19 in Math if interested in Prob & Stats. If the student has a lower score on the ACT, there are other testing options offered at NES. Any student that is interested needs to see their Counselor for more information.
Dual Enrollment Classes- These classes are also offered to our students at Daniel Boone High School through ETSU, Northeast State, Milligian and Tusculumn (online). Interested students must meet the ACT requirements for the classes and must provide his/her own transportation. Students interested in taking Dual Enrollment classes on a college's campus must see their Counselor for more details.
NE State provides Eng. Comp I and Speech first semester and Eng Comp II and Stats second semester during first period just for Daniel Boone students. The class meets on either MW or TTh class schedule. There is also one section of each class taught 2nd period for students who are wishing to do both Eng. Comp I and Speech or Eng. Comp II and Stats

Will Your Dual Enrollment Classes or AP Scores Transfer?
Each University determines what they will accept in transfer credit. Before choosing AP or Dual Enrollment courses, check the course equivalency table for the 4 year school you plan to attend. Don't forget to check what courses are required for your major to ensure you choose the best DE or AP course for your needs . If the school you plan to attend is not listed below, check their webpage for specifics.
