Course Description

  • MCJROTC I

    Grade Level:  9-12    Credits: 1                                        

    Prerequisite: None

    This initial MCJROTC course lays a foundation for cadets by emphasizing followership, development of leadership traits, and an introduction to military organization.  Cadets will also receive training in Marine Corps drill and ceremony, physical fitness and health, marksmanship and land navigation.

     

    MCJROTC II

    Grade Level:  9-12    Credits: 1

    Prerequisite: MCJROTC I or JROTC Instructor approval

    This second year course explores subjects taught in MCJROTC I in greater detail with an emphasis on leadership theory, styles and principles.  Second year cadets will be assigned command positions as a means of furthering their leadership skills.

     

    MCJROTC III

    Grade Levels:  10-12 Credits: 1

    Prerequisite:  MCJROTC II

    A third year course that emphasizes practical application in leadership billets under the direct guidance of the Senior Marine Instructor SMI).  The course features the development of leadership skills through participation in MCJROTC sponsored events, selected "intern" programs within the school and community service programs.  The ultimate aim is to provide the cadet with those necessary leadership skills to succeed upon graduation.

     

    MCJROTC Drill Team I (Entry Level)

    Grade Level:  9-12    Credits: 1

    Prerequisite:  JROTC Instructor approval

    The MCJROTC Entry Level Team is comprised of both male and female first year drill team cadets who desire to compete at the high school level military drill competitions.  Members will learn the requirements of precision military drill. This course is required for entry into the MCJROTC Drill Team.

     

    MCJROTC Drill Team II (Varsity Level)

    Recommended Levels:  9-12 Credits: 1-3

    Prerequisite:  JROTC Instructor approval

    The MCJROTC drill team is comprised of both male and female cadets who pride themselves on their ability to master the requirements of precision military drill.  The team competes at regional and national level drill meets and performs at a variety of school and community sponsored events. Dedication to excellence and a willingness to work hard to achieve team goals is a must for this course.

           

    MCJROTC Staff Planning and Development

    Recommended Levels:  11-12     Credits: 1

    Prerequisite:  MCJROTC Instructor approval

    Cadets will hone those leadership and administrative skills necessary to the successful functioning of the cadet battalion.  A primary objective is the development of proficiencies in the planning and execution of public and community service projects, the generation of operations and training milestones and the monitoring of the cadet performance evaluation system.
