Mrs. Cathy Ketron
I have been teaching for over 30 years, but have been a librarian for the last 10 years. I received my BS degree from ETSU, my Masters from Union College, and my LMS degree from ETSU. I am married to the love of my life, and together we have 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren who are the best blessings of all!
I have a passion for books and for reading to children to help develop imagination and creativity as well as a lifelong love of learning and discovery. My philosophy with those that I teach who say they don't like to read is to tell them that they just haven’t found the right book yet. It then becomes my challenge to match these students with the book that will cause them to run back to me clutching their book and ask, "Mrs. Ketron, I loved this book...do you have another book like this?!" EXACTLY!! And, it happens more often than you might think so that I now have another book lover who is eager to read!! What can I say...joy fills my heart because that is what it's all about.
Each year I decorate our library in a different theme to promote the excitement and love of reading. I gear research using chromebooks around our theme to engage curiosity and spur further the love of learning as well. This year our theme is "Camp Read S'More" which is based on the forest/lake habitat and the plants and wildlife that live there. The library is always a busy place to read and learn, so come see what the excitement is all about!
