Sorry I only updated on Dojo last week. My computer was inaccessable, but we are back on track this week.\

    5th grade:

We are creating a haunted house!

Today we are planning the theme of the haunted house and planning what will be in each room!

    6th grade:

This week we are writing our research topics about our chosen selections. We will work on this all week, so don't feel like you need to write it all today.

I encourage to break it up like this:

    Monday: Introductory Element

    Tue/Wed/Thur: Body Paragaphs

    Friday: Conclusions/ Restate Learning

HOWEVER, I know each of you work at your own pace.

Do not hesitate to reach out and ask questions and check in.

Happy first day of TCAP Testing ;)

Today would start the two week window that student's were supposed to take their TCAP tests that have since been cancelled in Washington County.

5th: Read Chapter 8 of Hatchet today :)

6th: Continue to research your information. I would rather us take a few days to research rather than try to rush and get it all done in one afternoon.

Please reach out to me with questions and/or to check in!

6th: Today we begin researching! There is a video and an assignment posted for you on Google Classroom :)

Part 2 of Harry Potter is posted on Youtube as well. Enjoy!

Don't forget, 9-10 Google Meet daily with 5/6 teachers! Login can be found on my site. You can use any email or phone to join us. Can't wait to see you :)

Using information from chapter 6, answer these questions:

    1. Brian chose to locate his shelter close to the lake. Explain his reasoning.

    2. Brian was so used to the ready availability of food that he was not prepared to seek it in the wilderness. What did he finally do?

    3. Whom did Brian blame for his predicament? Evaluate his thinking.

    4. Create a word picture of Brian’s shelter.

Send me a picture of your work on Dojo OR email me.

Watch the short video on brainstorming ideas, then start brainstorming your own research ideas on the assigned link all on Google Classroom!

PS: To log into Google Classroom use your school assigned email. If you have any trouble, message me on Dojo, I have a list of your email accounts!

I hope you had a nice Spring Break 'staycation' during our extended leave from one another. I miss you dearly and hope that you are doing well. My break was spent working in the garden, building some fence, and building a new chicken coop and tearing down the old one!

We will get back in the swing of things:

    5th grade:

We are going to jump back into our novel study of Hatchet. The book can still be found on my class website. You can download it onto another device or read it online. Today we are reading chapter 6. If your memory is a little foggy, I encourage you to go back and glance through the chapters we have read so far.

We are going to jump into one of my favorite units of the year: conducting research. I have created a folder under 'Classworks' titled Research Project on Google Classroom. Currently there are two articles posted about digging through false news. Read both articles, then answer the questions on the discussion board. Then, respond to one of your classmates.

We are going to build on this over the next few weeks and ultimately create a research topic of your choice :)

Finish up that project before Spring Break starts :)

    If you have finished,

write a poem expressing what you have done or how you are feeling about social distancing, digital learning, or anything else going on and either email it to me or send it to me on Dojo.

Then, have a great SPRING BREAK :)

Lots of folks are still working on our big projects, so if you have not finished, make sure you continue to work on it and have it finished before we start Spring Break!

    If you are finished, then:

    Have a great sunny day!

    Finish spending your million dollars!

Did it go as far as you thought it would? Share some things you learned about it in a video clip with me through Dojo!

WEDNESDAY at noon we will meet using Google Meet! I'll send a tutorial out today. You will need either your email address or a cell phone number to access. I can't wait to see you!

Finish up planning your dream vacation!

What did you learn from this experience?

Was it tough to keep your vacation within the 2000/person limit? Explain your reasoning!

We are trying to find a viable way for us to meet digitally at some point. I will let you know ASAP what we decide. I can't wait to see you!

I've thrown a lot at you the past couple of days. I won't officially start looking at this as a grade until Friday, so if you got behind, don't stress!
