Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jessie Musselman

Hello, Jonesborough Tiger families! My name is Jessie Musselman.  I teach 8th-grade science and math teacher at JMS, and am thrilled to be “Roaring into the Future” for my fourth year as a Jonesborough Tiger!  In addition to being an educator and proud “Roaring Tiger,” I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter, and friend. I have had the opportunity to travel, live in, and experience many different places before becoming an employee of WCDE, but East Tennessee will forever and always will be “home sweet home to me!”
I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Middle Grades Education and B.S. in Cardiopulmonary Science from ETSU, and have multiple years experience in teaching middle grades math and science.
My personal philosophy of education is student-centered.  I feel that every child can learn, and is simply a flame waiting to be fanned.  One of my favorite quotes by Wes Angelozzi states to, “Go and love someone exactly as they are. And then watch how quickly they transform into the greatest, truest version of themselves. When one feels seen and appreciated in their own essence, one is instantly empowered.”
I hope to use my position as a “Roaring Tiger” to create a learning environment for JMS students in which they feel appreciated in their own essence, are guided to understand and appreciate their own differences and the differences of others, are empowered to use their own personal experiences and interests to shape their own futures, and are encouraged to grow to be independent-thinking adults who make positive contributions to our society.
