Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Joe Story
Hello Wildcat family. My Name is Joe Story and I am the school counselor and soccer coach at South Central Elementary. This will be my 2nd year at South Central as a school counselor, and I am excited to start working with the students, teachers, staff and the community. I am from Johnson City, TN where I have lived my entire life. I graduated from ETSU in 2011 where I majored in Marketing Management and earned my bachelors in business. After graduation I worked at David Crockett High School as an instructional assistant and was an assistant track coach for 2 years. In 2013 I went to work at Bristol Motor Speedway in their ticket sales department, and while working at BMS I decided to go back to school to earn my Masters of Science in Counseling at Carson-Newman University. Before my first semester of graduate school accepted a position with the Niswonger Foundation as a college and career adviser, where I worked with high school seniors to assist them navigate the steps towards post-secondary education. I graduated in May 2018 with my Master of Science in Counseling, and I am honored to be apart of the South Central family.
A little bit about me:
I have been married for 3 years to my beautiful wife Jessica. We have a Great Pyrenees dog named Millie, and two cats, Leo and Oliver. We enjoy spending time with each other, social outings, camping, and traveling. I grew up playing basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, cross country, and track. Currently in my free time I play softball, golf, basketball, exercise and enjoy spending time doing yard work around my house.
My role as a school counselor is to meet the needs of students, parents, school staff, and the community. I will teach classroom lessons to each class once a week and will meet with students on an individual basis to help support their personal/emotional, academic and career needs. There will be times during the school year where I will focus on small group counseling, assist with school supplies, community outreach, EPIC and holiday assistance.
Thank you and I look forward to meeting and working with the South Central Community!
