  • What is Science Olympiad?

    An international nonprofit organization dedicated to:

    • Improving the quality of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education
    • Increasing student interest in STEM and STEM career
    • Developing teamwork and problem solving skills in preparation for science Olympiad events

    Boone students go head to head with students from other local high schools such as Dobyns Bennett, Morristown West and many other high schools.

    • Biology, Environomental and Social Science,
    • Earth and Space Science
    • Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy
    • Computers, Technology and Engineering
    • Inquiry and Nature of Science
    • Paper/pencil/Stations Events; Examples: Anatomy, Crimebusters, Rocks and Minerals, Dynamic Planet, Meteorology, Solar System, Herpetology, (amphibians and reptiles), Optics, Ecology, Experimental Design
    • Engineering/building events; Examples: Towers, Roller Coaster, Wright Stuff, Hovercraft, Thermodynamics, Mousetrap Vehicle, Mission Impossible

    • Students who are interested in science and STEM
    • Students who want to be a part of a science team
    • Students who want to build 21st century work skills such as collaboration, problem solving task analysis, and mental dexterity
    • Students who like competition and want to win awards

    How much does it cost:

    • Annual Individual Student Fee is $5
    • Covers DBHS science Olympiad event registration
