Welcome to Mrs. Pate's art room at Sulphur Springs School. My goal is to enrich my students' learning through exploration of creativity and facilitate connections between the arts and the other core subjects through the teaching of the TN. State Visual Arts standards. Throughout elementary and middle school all students will gain experience and exposure to various media, techniques, and processes such as: drawing, painting, collage, 3D sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics, and printmaking.  Students will follow assignment guidelines but will have ample opportunity to make their own creative choices within those guidelines. Students also have the opportunity to explore and work cooperatively or independently during free artistic choice time (centers). Upper elementary and middle school will keep ongoing sketchbooks for writing, note-taking, and sketching. Projects will be displayed throughout the school and some art will be selected for art shows.
