Governor's Highway Safety Office Lifesaver Award
The Governor’s Highway Safety Office recognizes individuals who have made significant progress in support of highway safety programs. The first award ever given to an educational organization was granted to the Washington County Director of Schools, Ronald A. Dykes. Mr. Dykes was noted for his working relationship with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and his focus on keeping children safe whether it be in the classroom, on their way to school, or traveling to and from a school event. The primary goal of the Governor’s Highway Safety Office is to save lives by reducing fatalities on Tennessee roadways. Mr. Dykes was honored for his commitment and promotion of highway safety programs for Washington County students.
