Band Sponsor Mike Smith Band is available for students starting in the 6th grade. Seventh and eighth grade each have a separate band period. At Christmas and in the spring, the band students combine with students from Lamar, South Central and West View schools to perform at the David Crockett High School band concerts. Band students also have the opportunity to perform in a solo and ensemble festival, sponsored by the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.
Student Council Sponsors Brandon McKee and Glenda Crowe Student Council at JMS is a group of students who want to help raise money for their school and others in the community in need. One student from each homeroom class is elected to student council.
4-H Sponsor Connie Goff Sharp, Extension Agent / Washington County Extension Office The 4-H program helps young people develop the life skills needed to become capable, responsible and caring citizens. Through local 4-H clubs, special interest groups, after-school programs, camp and many other activities, 4-H'ers have fun, make lasting friendships, enjoy "hands-on" learning experiences and get involved in their communities.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Sponsor Tracy Jones We have prayer group/Bible study every other Wednesday at 7:25 AM. We concentrate on prayer requests and Bible studies, as well as unique verses in the Bible. Anyone is welcome to attend.
DARE - Drug Abuse Resistance Education An exciting 17 week program to help students recognize and resist the pressures that may influence them to experiment with tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, inhalants or other drugs. This program is offered to fifth grade students in their science class. The program is directed by the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
Yearbook Staff Sponsor Brooke Britton and Brandon McKee The yearbook staff has many duties including: organizing students for their school pictures, preparing the layout for the yearbook, selling and distributing the yearbook. The staff's work creates lasting memories for faculty, staff, students, and their families.
